Let's have SUM FUN!

There is a formula to creating dice. Opposite sides equal 7.

SUM FUN: Is an engaging class for students to create materials that are used in a fun and playful way to reinforce math concepts with a concentration in addition and subtraction proficiency.

Did you know there is a formula to creating dice? When opposite sides of the dice are added together they should equal 7.

By making their own dice, students have to figure out the missing addend to make 7.

There are lots of addition and subtraction games involving movement and probability that can be played collaboratively with dice...

...or played solo!

Probability games are great fun especially once the students start to see the pattern.

They keep rolling and adding in order to get those near impossible 12's and 2's!

Forever Green SUM FUN!

Some students are challenged to see how long they can make their probability scrolls! A fun way to increase their addition proficiency and become aware of probability!

What Goes Up Must Come Down

What Goes Up Must Come Down

What Goes Up Must Come Down

3rd & 4th graders  join us on Mondays at Hillside School from 2:45 to 4:30. We'll touch on the principles of physics and engineering while crafting and testing flying objects we make in class.  We'll talk about lift, gravity, drag and all things that help these objects fly.

Space: The Final Frontier

What Goes Up Must Come Down

What Goes Up Must Come Down

2nd & 3rd graders sign up to participate on Tuesdays at Hillside School from 2:45 to 4:30. Let's create some cool space models and talk about all things space exploration.

Roller Coaster Physics

Roller Coaster Physics

Roller Coaster Physics

5th & 6th graders come join us at the Recreation Center on Wednesdays from 3:30 to 5:00. We'll explore, design, and build models as a practical way to learn about the physics and engineering concepts that go into building roller coasters. We will discuss potential and kinetic energy, friction, gravity, and centripetal force. This hands-on approach encourages critical thinking and creativity.

Roller Coaster Physics

1st & 2nd graders sign up and join us at Hillside School on Thursdays from 2:45 to 4:30. Students will build on their math fluency with handcrafted games we make and play in class together. Focus will be on addition and subtraction.

Welcome to Forever Green Growing Minds

My Story

Welcome to Forever Green Growing Minds!

I’m Elizabeth McQuaid, a local River Towns mother and educator.

My focus is to offer classes that foster a love of learning, ensuring your child is always ‘green’ in their excitement for learning while ‘forever growing' and expanding their minds.

I grew up in Hastings-on-Hudson, and had the opportunity to explore and live in Europe for a while. Eventually I returned to Hastings to raise my child and I feel fortunate to have done so living in such a warm and supportive environment.

With a passion for teaching, my objective is to provide an experience where children are excited about the process and end result of what they are learning. It is delightful to see a child’s face light up when they have made a connection or realization. It is the true meaning of joy!

I was first introduced to this learning concept while doing my student teaching at the Sarah Lawrence Early Childhood Center. I received my A.A.S in Early Childhood Education from W.C.C. and my B.A. in History and Childhood Education from Lehman College.

As a curriculum developer and teacher, I’ve learned that one of the most effective ways to develop deep understanding and lasting knowledge is to engage the senses and encourage exploration.

At Forever Green, we offer enrichment experiences so children may learn and grow in a playful, engaging context.
